There many that think different about this...

Some say these below are the first to start Christian Rock -

Larry Norman
The Exkursions
Azitus
Agape
Fraction
Earthen Vessel

What are your thoughts who was or is?

I think I'd have to vote for Larry Norman. Especially since that's the one I'm most familiar with

Hey man - contemporary Christian music in the UK was definitely fathered by Sir Cliff Richard - maybe you should play "Fighter/Thief In The Night" from his 1990 album "From A Distance: The Event" recorded at Wembley Stadium on your station - the guy's a classic!

I think it would have to be Glenn Kaiser from Rez Band.

I saw Glenn Kaiser live about a year ago at a small church in Princeton WV. It was an awesome show and he and his wife, Wendy, are blessings from the Lord.

Wasn't Randy Stonehill involved in the beginnings of Christian rock/contemporary music? BTW, I saw Randy in person at a local church. He was awesome. We chatted for awhile after church.

Too bad this wasn't a poll.  I would've voted Larry Norman.

But Larry isn't the True Gadfather of Christian Rock... lot of British bands were out in the early 60's like Crossbeats, or the Pilgrims... and many more. I have even heard them on the 70's Electric show... sound very simular to the Beattles

I think King David in the Psalms is the one who started Christian Rock!  Seriously, without King David's writings would we really have all the songs we have? Nope, we wouldn't!  So, therefore, it was King David who taught us the meaning of Christian Rock thousands of years ago  hehehe .....

Every town has its up's and downs.  Sometimes ups outnumbers the downs, but not in Nottingham.  I'm inclined to believe if we weren't so down we'd up and leave.  We'd up and fly if we had wings for flyin, can't you see the tears we're crying.  Can't

Larry Norman, Randy Mathews and Andrae Crouch. And a few years later Degarmo & Key. Not really my type of music, but they paved the way for the great bands to follow!  GB
