I know that it's already been discussed about which band you like the most from the Jesus movement. Well, I would like to ask what your favorite song from the Jesus movement is and would you please share the lyrics? I love reading lyrics from different songs and I think it would be neat to read a bunch of different lyrics from the Jesus movement.

My favorite is the following:

Artist: Petra
Title: Grave Robber

There's a step that we all take alone
An appointment we have with the great unknown
Like a vapor this life is just waiting to pass
Like the flowers that fade, like the withering grass
But life seems so long and death so complete
And the grave an impossible potion to cheat
But there's One who has been there and still lives to tell
There is One who has been through both heaven and hell
And the grave will come up empty-handed the day
Jesus will come and steal us away

(Chorus)
Where is the sting, tell me where is the bite
When the grave robber comes like a thief in the night
Where is the victory, where is the prize
When the grave robber comes
And death finally dies

Many still mourn and many still weep
For those that the love who have fallen asleep
But we have this hope though our hearts may still ache
Just one shout from above and they all will awake
And in the reunion of joy we will see
Death will be swallowed in sweet victory

When the last enemy is done from the dust will come a song
Those asleep will be awakened - not a one will be forsakened
He shall wipe away our tears - He will steal away our fears
There will be no sad tomorrow - there will be no pain and sorrow

Every town has its up's and downs. Sometimes ups outnumbers the downs, but not in Nottingham. I'm inclined to believe if we weren't so down we'd up and leave. We'd up and fly if we had wings for flyin, can't you see the tears we're crying. Can't

Very Nice SC!!!!

(BTW, I started a lyric thread in the "Christian Hard Rock/Metal..." forum, it is just on page #2, cause people didn't post much in there, But I really like you making it era-specific)

^Wonderful song from a group that molded and defined GodRock.

Here's one of my favorites.

Degarmo and Key: "All The Losers Win"

You say winners don't need a crutch, only losers could believe in such
You don't need God, you don't need anything
Face life alone and take what the future brings

(Chorus)

Here's to all the losers that lose all guilt and sin
Here's to life in Jesus, where all of the losers win

You think I've missed what success can bring
I miss success like trees miss cold in spring
You think that all is far too much to give
That's what Jesus gave so that this loser could live

Take Care

P.S. Christian lyrics IS why I am on this site.

Who am I, that You would be mindful of me? Psalms 8
and II Samuel 7:18

BLESSED BEYOND MY OWN INSIGHT!!!!!!!!

I need a new avatar, really.

Why Don't You Look Into Jesus (Larry Norman)

Sipping whiskey from a paper cup,

You drown your sorrows till you can't stand up,

Take a look at what you've done to yourself,

Why don't you put the bottle back on she shelf,

Yellow fingers from your cigarettes,

Your hands are shaking while your body sweats,

Why don't you look into Jesus, He got the Answer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gonorrhea on Valentines Day,

And you're still looking for the perfect lay,

You think rock and roll will set you free,

You'll be deaf before your thirty three,

Shooting junk till your half insane,

Broken needle in your purple vein,

Why don't you look into Jesus, He got the Answer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You work all night, sleep all day,

You take your money, throw it all away,

You say you're going to be a superstar,

But you've never hung around enough to find out who you really are.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Think back to when you were a child,

Your soul was free, your heart ran wild,

Each day was different, and life was a thrill,

You knew tomorrow would be better still,

Things have changed you're much older now,

If you're unhappy and you don't know how,

Why don't you look into Jesus, He got the answer.

A man can no more diminsh God's glory by not worshipping him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word darkness on the walls of his cell.

I like "Reader's Digest" by Larry Norman as well. It's such an insightful look at music and politics in the early 70s. Very witty...

Peace,

Jeff
